"Whiskey & Wine" Dinner Party
Set a fabulous menu where whisky and/or wine is an ingredient for as many menu items as possible.
Ex: Beef Wellington with a red wine demi glaze and a Kentucky Bourbon Butter Cake for dessert.
Whiskey and wine is served as the beverage options for the evening… a great excuse to try out new flavors, or do a blind taste test to see if those top shelf brands are actually the better tasting ones whiskey/wine.
“Chili Cook-off”
A pot-luck event where everyone brings a crockpot of their own chili recipes. The host will provide the sampling cups/spoons and scoring materials. All participants vote for their top two chilis and the chili with the most votes wins! Bonus points if you have a plague commemorating the winners!

The Savannah Bananas
We were lucky to see the Savannah Banana baseball team at Petco Park in San Diego.
I had never seen a full game but I had heard great reviews from friends who had previously seen this party at the baseball field.
Banana-ball is a unique game with its own set of rules slightly adjacent to your usual baseball guidelines. Banana-ball includes a LOT more music, dancing, and crowd participation. (A foul ball caught by an audience member actually counts as an out in the game!)
I did walk away afterwards with a smile on my face and some questions about the appropriateness of Twerking and oil baths on a ball field, but the whole family had a good time.
